Food
Artist residents are not provided with any food although they are always welcome to eat from the bounty of the orchards and gardens during the growing season (May-October). Check What's Growing
That, and we also have a communal food shelf full of various items and have communal dinners somewhat regularly.
Natural Skills Learning Opportunities
Any of the visiting artists are encouraged to take advantage of the opportunity to learn about sustainable living, organic farming, plant ID, foraging, etc. Find more about what we do in that regard here.

Nearby Attractions
~Only 5 minutes by car is Burnsville, a small country town but with a vibrant arts community and a rich history. There are grocery stores, banks, art galleries, and restuarants.
~Asheville, one of the most artsy and culturally rich cities in the world is 40 minutes away.
~Boone is Asheville's funky little sister, a vibrant college town in the heart of the mountains, only 1 hour away.
~Mount Mitchell, the highest mountain East of the Mississippi is here in Yancey County, offering 360 degree view of the mountains.
~The Linville Gorge is the Grand Canyon of the East and is about an hour away.
~Some amazing waterfalls to jump off of are also fairly close by.
Other Info
~ Depending on the time of year, there are usually between 8 and 16 people living here, all of which are either artist residents of working on the farm
~ We can sometimes find random paid work for artists, usually manual labor.
~ We also host interesting folks through Air BnB regularly.
~ We're flexible with pets, but only if they get along with all of the other animals here.

What's Included
- Each artist has their own private living quarters: be it a room, tiny house, cabin, or bus.
(Check the bottom of page for pictures)- Electricity, kitchen, hot showers, Wi-fi, filtered water, fresh vegetables and fruits during season, and rides to town for those without cars.
- Freely roam the 67 acres full of trails, creeks, fruit trees, wild life and long range views.
- Yoga platform, trampoline overlooking the mountains, rope-swing, library,
- Access to circus props such as unicycles, stilts, juggling props and lessons
- Play or learn to play on any of the instruments (pianos, organs, accordion, flutes, guitars, bass, drums, banjos, mandolin, fiddles, cello, upright bass, hammered dulcimer, etc).
